Message of Love from the Bridge
The events that occurred following our return home from the final vets' visit without our beloved Casey amazes us still. Some would say these are simply coincidences, and yet others would say these are meaningful messages from a missing family member who wishes to comfort us in our grief. We will simply retell the events that followed after Casey crossed over the rainbow bridge. You may interpret them, as you will.
Following the heart-wrenching departure of our loyal and loving Casey, the events of this day were still seemingly quite surreal. Returning home and still in shock of what just occurred, we were quite unprepared for what would happen next.
We entered through our backyard gate, and into the yard where Casey frolicked and played for so many wonderful years. We do not understand in our grief why we would even pay attention to this, but for some reason we did. All the apple trees in the neighbourhood were in full bloom since the recent rain, all accept the apple tree that we called Casey's apple tree. Why did this happen? Every year this same tree bloomed liked clockwork, but not this year. Why should this particular apple tree fail to bloom this year? There was no evidence of blights, insects, or other plausible reasons for this to occur. Yet, this is what did occur. Why you might ask is this important? If you have read Casey's story, this apple tree was very connected to Casey as he enjoy the fruits of this tree every summer and autumn throughout his entire life.
It was while we were looking for possible explanations for this strange occurrence, that we noticed it. There was only one single apple bloom on that tree. Our eyes inexplicably and immediately filled with tears. It was as if this was Casey's way of telling us, "I'm alright now, I'm at the rainbow bridge, and please don't be sad".
We ran into the house, and got the camera to take a photo of this amazing event. We cannot adequately describe into words how this "special message" comforted both of us. It should not be surprising that Casey would choose to send his loving message through the apple tree that was such a large part of his life. We both understood his final message of love, and that is what is important. What a gift this was!
